The Youth Fresh Food Initiative

The Youth Fresh Food Initiative is a youth sustainable agriculture program at Buncombe Community School East, in Swannanoa NC. Students at the alternative high school work in the one acre organic market garden, raising fresh produce for local markets. In addition, students of YFFI perform service at other area schools, offering assistance to younger school children in their gardening projects.The program is part of an effort to integrate work and service ethics into an academic program for at risk youth.
